Seriousness in Life

Seriousness is a trait of a human’s life. It is essential for a meaningful and purposeful life. Seriousness means an earnest and sincere approach to different life situations. There is a lot of difference between serious and non-serious people. But one easy test helps us to distinguish serious and non-serious people. Jesus told to his disciples that ‘you will know them by their fruits’. And so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Therefore, our behaviours, outcomes, expressions etc. reveals our seriousness in life. We cannot judge people by their feeling but their actions.

The non-seriousness approach towards life is one of the main problems in the contemporary world; especially after the penetration of liberal-left-atheistic ideologies to societies. Searching and following that making something pleasurable is the symbol of non-serious people. Serious people always searching and following that something meaningful and purposeful. No one this world can have a life with full of happiness and peace by having external factors. Joy and peace in life always begin from internal, not external. Serious people have joy and peace because of 'what they are', not 'what they have'. There is an infinite difference between ‘what they are’ and ‘what they have’. Therefore, we must change our focus in life from making pleasurable to be meaningful and purposeful. Suffering and pleasure are not transcendental, but truth and goodness are transcendental.

Truth is the highest moral principle

The root of all evil is the lie. Telling lie is a betrayal. Of course, there are some painful truth will have some kind of difficulties for a temporary time. But in the long run and the final analysis, it will make an everlasting joy for standing with the right side. In the contemporary world, people developed a habit to tell lie without any kind of hesitation. It is too dangerous for upcoming generations to have a value system based on truth. If parents do not hold truth as the highest moral principles in life, their offspring will not hold truth as the highest value in life. If once start a lie, it will act and continue as a chain reaction. This is not going to end but dividing to many branches and multiply to new areas and levels. So be truthful in all areas of life and all time. It is not easy, but we have to purposefully and intentionally act upon. Basic nature of a human being is not to be truthful, but to be untruthful. It could see from the Garden of Eden.

We have always two options in life to every situation i.e. embrace evil or fight against evil. If anyone wants to fight against evil, they must start from being truthful always. There is no big lie or small lie, but only lie; i.e. lie is evil. A short and temporary gain in life by untruth making us a slave to evil.

Time Management

Time is the only resources in the world equally available to all on the face of the earth from Bill Gates to Slum dweller. Setting schedule and targets in life make more effectiveness of our activities. The circadian rhythm will be more active in a person having a fixed daily routine. Circadian rhythms are physical, mental, and behavioural changes that follow a daily cycle. It has a great deal in managing the mental health of a person and maintains mood at an appropriate level.

Serious people always will be busy people. They will have no time to get bored in life. Serious people never violate priorities in life even amid a heavy busy schedule. They will be physically, emotionally and spiritually involved in all their actions and behaviours in both professional settings and personal relationships. Punctuality, being on time is the moral duty of a person having a spiritual standard of morality. Our time is one of the most precious gifts of God, so we have to utilize and do hard work to make use of full or maximum potential out of it.

Sincerity in all ways

Sincerity is worsening among people in both professional settings and personal relationships. This is mainly because of setting primary motivation in life as pleasure instead of meaning. Serious people will be sincere in all their actions and behaviours. Lack of sincerity is meaningless. Compromising sincerity is a kind of corruption. 

Professionally, serious people need to be on time in duty, extend a maximum effort to do responsibilities and be involved as much as possible. Go to introspection always to ensure that delivering the highest potential we can deliver in each circumstance. Also, try to increase our performance day by day and comparing our previous performances, not other's performances. It will change our status in personal as well as social level.

In personal relationships, physical, emotional and spiritual level of commitment is very essential for maintaining a meaningful and fruitful relationship. It must be earned with meaning and purpose not just freely transact. Bible says about the relationship “All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them” and “Whatever is hurtful to you, do not do to any other person”.

Meaning and Purpose in Life

Serious people always concerned about meaning and purpose in life rather pleasure and suffering. Life has a definite meaning and purpose. The actualization of life can be experienced and achieved only by a meaningful and purposeful life. It is absolutely impossible without God in our life. Purpose of life can simply state that “Being more good to reach more order”. People born with chaos and vulnerabilities, but due to the socialization of religious study (Doctrine & Discipline) make them be more good. Meaning of life can simply state that "It's transcending in nature by Good, Right, Happy, Satisfied and Stable experiences as a human being". It is a fight between good and evil. We can either fight for good or evil. Noone can both. So fight for good with freewill. Effective life with meaning and purpose can be lead with rationality, morality and wisdom. Rationality is based on reason, morality based on religious doctrine and discipline, and wisdom from God. When people try to become more successful than good, it enhances chaos and eventually leads to a loss of purpose in life. Also when people see the physical world in limited nature of experiences by feelings and emotions, it further leads to a meaningless life. So God, Universe, Earth, Men & Women etc. have a cause, meaning and purpose.
