War is a tragedy, no doubt about it. It has a huge cost of life and so on. But historically it has significant merits, such as all independent movements, freedom from tyrany, regime change etc. No-war is not a good sign as there are no police on the street. Both have the same logic. War with the right purpose is good for a civilised society. Otherwise, barbarism will prevail. All privileges we are enjoying right now in the 21st century have not spontaneously come; behind this many people lost their life. No-war will benefit evil and the devil.
There is no Bible verse that directly commands or asks believers to pray for world peace. But there is direction to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Other verses encourage us to pray for personal peace, inner peace, peace with God, or living peacefully.
Strictly based on Bible, this world is not going to be more peaceful, rather more conflicts, tribulations are on the way. More and heavy fire will be coming. Pray and Prepare for that. Jesus said I have not come to bring peace to the earth.
Among Christians, after liberation theology (marxist communist ideas more than Biblical ideas) conquered our seminaries, almanac etc. entered our churches through presbyters; then the believer's collective consciousness tilted far from Biblical ideas and leaned more towards secular ideas in Church. This is VERY DANGEROUS. They teach us to pray for world peace without Biblical basis.
(Originally, I wrote this for responding someone online over war)
